The guru dynamic and the authoritarian dynamic run on the same fuel:

“You can’t trust yourself. You need me to interpret reality for you. Never mind what you saw, heard, or felt. Just look here. I’ll tell you what it means.”

If you’ve ever been in that dynamic, you know how subtle it is. You start to question your own eyes. Your own body. Your own reaction.

And then you start to believe you’re missing something. I’m not missing the plot. I don’t need another interpreter for my experience.

If something feels wrong, I get to say it feels wrong. If something feels destabilizing, I don’t gaslight myself into calm.

When self help doesn’t help me, maybe it’s because I was never broken. Maybe I was trained not to trust myself. And maybe you were too.

So let me ask you something gently: Where were you taught not to trust your own senses?

When did you start believing someone else had the “real” interpretation of your life? What would change if you trusted the first signal in your body instead of overriding it?

This isn’t about rebellion for the sake of rebellion. It’s about sovereignty. It’s about women remembering that we are not confused children waiting for a wiser adult.

We are grown women who can read a room. We can feel when something is off. We can compare notes. And we can say it out loud.
